HIS 147 - History of Slavery in Americas
Course Description: This course examines the history of Slavery in the Americas between 1500 and 1900. Topics include slavery and abolition in North America, South America, and the Caribbean. By examining primary sources and drawing from various media, students consider the nature of plantation economies, questions of identity and bondage, the importance of resistance, and how challenges to slavery shaped emerging ideas of freedom.
